Gotta Do It

Today

Salad bar luncheon: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., The United Methodist Women of the Manhattan United Methodist Church located at 335 E. North St. in Manhattan. Tickets are $8 for adults; $3.50 for ages 6-12 and free for kids younger than age 5. Prices are a mission donation. Express tables are available for those on their lunch hour. Menu consists of a variety of salads, rolls, dessert and drinks. No carryouts. All UMW members have tickets or they may be ordered ahead by Bev at 815-478-3885 or Wanta at 815-423-5198 or at the door.

Fried chicken buffet: 4-8 p.m. Wednesdays at American Legion Post 1080, Ingalls Avenue and Infantry Drive, Joliet. Call 815-729-2254.

Thursday

Spaghetti dinner: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., American Italian Cultural Society, 1918 Donmaur Drive, Crest Hill. Cost $8 and $4 children younger than age 12 (in-house). Carryouts available.

Overeaters Anonymous meeting: 6:30 and 7:10 p.m. meetings on Thursdays at the Hope Lutheran Church located at 305 E. Black Road in Shorewood. For more information, call

Friday

Social media workshop: 10-11:30 a.m., presented by Workforce Services of Will County at Mokena Community Public Library District, 11327 W. 195th St. in Mokena. Using LinkedIn and other social media tools can be powerful in your job search. It is a known fact that more employers than ever are using social media to recruit potential job candidates. If you are new to social media and want to learn more, this is the workshop for you. Registration is suggested by calling 708-479-9663.

Saturday

Men’s prayer breakfast: 9-11:30 a.m., Fellowship Hall, Brown Chapel AME Church, 1509 E. Mills Road in Joliet.

Steak fry: 5-8 p.m., Moran Athletic Club, 1207 Nicholson St. in Joliet. Serving 16-ounce ribeye with trimmings for $12. Entertainment by "Band X.”

Annual plant sale: noon to 4:30 p.m., sponsored by Green Glen Garden Center on the Will County Humane Society Shelter grounds, 24109 W. Seil Road, Shorewood. A huge variety of flowers, plants and shrubs will be available. Gently used and new garden items can be donated and will be offered for sale. Shelter merchandise will be specially priced for this event. If you cannot find your gardening needs at the Shelter, telephone Green Glen Garden Center at 815-722-3133 and use the code words Humane Society and the shelter will receive a portion of the sale.

Sunday

Omelet breakfast: 8-11 a.m. Knights of Columbus, 100 S. Infantry Drive. Cost $7 adults and $5 ages 6-12. Omelets made to order.
