Making a difference

JOLIET — April recipients of the Troy Craughwell Those Who Make a Difference student recognition program were:

Kindergarten: Joshua Allison, Peyton Ristau, Jack O’Connor, Logan Stenquist and Jose Nevarez.

First grade: Noelle Hayes, Aubrie Hromadka, Kara Johnson, Taniya Mattix and Daniela Mendoz.

Second grade: Monnay Bass, Kayleigh Mosher, Jermain McCann, DeMarcus Lee and Michael Tieri.

Third grade: Julianna Crompton, Jalen Doby, Julian Martinez and Alex Meyer.

Fourth grade: Kathryn Epling, Leonard Hohisel and Kendall Kobe.

JCA awards

JOLIET — Joliet Catholic Academy announced its Students of the Month for March: John Chignoli, Joliet Noon Lions Club; Ariba Hasan, Rotary Club of Joliet; and Alessa Smith, Kiwanis Club of Joliet.

The son of William and Karen of Joliet, Chignoli rplans on attending the University of Iowa, majoring in accounting with a minor in finance.

The daughter of Syed Hasan and Farah Jofri, Hasan, of Bolingbrook, plans on attending Benedictine University, majoring in medicine with the hopes of becoming a pediatrician.

The daughter of Stan and Joyce of Shorewood, Smith plans on attending Grace College in Winona Lake, Ind., with a double major in youth ministry and counseling and a minor in Biblical studies.

Minooka music honors

MINOOKA — Minooka High School musicians and singers were selected to perform as part of the Fox Valley Music Festival on April 29-30 at East Aurora High School. Guest conductors included University of Minnesota band director Craig Kirchkoff, and Wheaton Conservatory of Music director Daniel Sommerville.

Sophomore Erin Mathewson, oboe, was selected for the festival orchestra.

Festival band: junior Kayla Bachar, flute; junior Ashely Grygienc, flute; senior Austin Scholp, trombone; senior Haley Reichardt, clarinet; senior Molly Willeford, bass clarinet; senior Anna Strle, clarinet; senior Ryan Volke, euphonium; junior Jeff Breunig, tuba.The following MCHS Festival choir: sophomore Samantha Ingold, senior Darcy Chobar, junior Alli Swank, sophomore Robyn Clarke, junior Carly Garcia, junior Justin Miner, sophomore Kody Isemonger, junior Bobby Smith, junior Thomas Russell, sophomore Drew Hargreave.

“These singers and musicians put on memorable performances and worked very hard over the two days of rehearsal,” MCHS Choral Program Director Randy Benware said.

LTHS language honors

LOCKPORT — Lockport Township High School inducted students into its World Language Honor Societies.
