Cardboard Boat Race

CREST HILL — Lockport Township Park District will host a Cardboard Boat Race, sponsored by BMO Harris Bank, for ages
6 and older at 10 a.m. on Aug. 4 at Chaney Pool, 410 Rose St.

Build your own boat out of cardboard and race others across the pool. Five different age groups will compete for prizes. Fee: $12/pre-registration per boat, $15/day of event.

Seeking Volunteers

LOCKPORT — Lockport Township Park District is seeking adult volunteers for the annual World War II event to be held Sept. 8 and 9 at Dellwood Park.

Volunteers will be assisting with admission, a passport program and other program events. A souvenir T-shirt, soft drinks, water and a chance to see the event is offered.

Up, Up and Away

CREST HILL — The Lockport Township Park District will host Up, Up and Away 5-7 p.m. Aug. 12 at Brent Hassert Park on Renwick Road.

The free event includes an acrobatic act by Forms in Motion 5:45-6:45 p.m., a professional kite flying demonstration, weather permitting, and you can enjoy a chair swing or get adventurous on the zipline.

Internet Workshop

LOCKPORT — Lockport Township Park District will offer Internet Safety/Facebook Workshop for ages 40 and older 7-9 p.m. Aug. 16 at the Gladys Fox Museum, 231 E. Ninth St.

Session will cover social media like Facebook and discuss measures to help you and your family surf the web with less worry. Bring a laptop to class.
