Spiritual retreat this weekend

ROMEOVILLE — Rachel’s Vineyard weekend retreats are an opportunity for any person who has struggled with the emotional or spiritual pain of an abortion.

The retreat will be Friday, Saturday and Sunday at St. Charles Pastoral Center, 101 W. Airport Road.

Church hosting diocese faith program

JOLIET — St. Mary Magdalene Church, 127 S. Briggs St., will host the first in a series of sessions of Joliet Diocese-sponsored adult faith formation sessions entitled “Encountering Christ and Being Sent” from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday.

The program is presented by representatives of the Cardinal Newman Institute of Adult Faith Formation of the Diocese of Joliet and answers the question, “How has God called me and what is my mission?”

Gospel music at Limacher Park

JOLIET — A free gospel music event will be held from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday at Billie Limacher Bicentennial Park, 201 W. Jefferson St.

Among the featured performers will be Percy Gray and Joshua’s Troop, Minister Tim White, Tony Tidwell and Uncommon Favor, One 4 Christ, Donald “Buster” Woods and G3, Janet Sutton and Voices of ACME, Arthur Sutton and Gift of Praise, Turner Sisters, St. Paul Combined Choir and the Mount Zion Gospel Choir.

Fall prayer breakfast on tap

JOLIET — The Sisters of St. Francis of Mary Immaculate will host their Fall Prayer Breakfast at 7 a.m. Wednesday at the Joliet Franciscan Center, 1433 Essington Road.

Topic will be “Mindfulness in a Hectic World,” with speaker Annette Jo Girarrante, spiritual director, certified life coach and a group facilitator.

Church pastor hosting rally

JOLIET — At 2 p.m. Saturday, the Rev. Linda Cooper, pastor of Full Gospel Community Fellowship Church, 609 Fox St., will have an Open Air Rally.

All of the funds will be donated to Africa. Various pastors/ministers from Joliet, Chicago and Indiana will preach. Local psalmists and musicians will also lead the group in praise and worship.

Church seeks celebration guests

JOLIET — Members of the St. John Missionary Baptist Church Anniversary Committee would like to invite choirs and congregations to be guests in worship services at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at the church, 104 E. Zarley Blvd.

This service is for the church’s 57th anniversary.

Guest will be Dr. Chalmos Mitchell and the Manuel Memorial Church of Chicago. Dinner will be served after service.

Radio host to give presentation

FRANKFORT — Anita Lustrea, host of Moody Radio’s “Midday Connection,” will present “What Women Tell Me” at 7 p.m. Sept. 21 at Peace Community Church, 21300 S. La Grange Road.

Tickets cost $5 in advance, with a deadline of Sunday. Afterward, tickets will cost $8 and can be purchased at the church on Sunday mornings after the worship service or online at www.flourishwomen.org.

Women’s group hosting fashion show

JOLIET — “Fashion Show on Parade,” sponsored by Joliet Area Christian Women, will be from 9:30-11 a.m. Wednesday at Joliet Country Club, 1009 Spencer Road.

Cost is $12, with a free nursery.

Speaker will be Cris Corzine, a Christian counselor and clinical social worker who turned to drugs and alcohol, and shares her story of hope and second chances in “A Prodigal’s Journey Home.”

Adult Bible study available

JOLIET — St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church, 702 N. Broadway, will start its Adult Education Bible Study class at 7 p.m. Wednesday. The first topic will be the Infancy Narratives.
