Park district holds fishing derby

NEW LENOX — To continue the excitement and love of fishing in the New Lenox area, the New Lenox Community Park District added a new and special event.

The Fall Frenzy Fishing Derby was held Sept. 8. More than 50 fishing enthusiasts from age 2 to adult lined the shores of Hibernia Pond to drop their lines and compete for prizes.

The free event was made possible in part from a grant received from the National Parks and Recreation Association and the Rather Be Fishing Foundation as well as donations by Target.

Prizes in various age groups were awarded to various age groups in four categories: most fish, longest, heaviest and smallest. Winners were as follows:

Ages 2-6: Michael Petlit, most fish; Jacob Ennis, longest fish; Charlie Cresenzo, heaviest fish; and Grace Svetkich, smallest fish.

Ages 7-11: Wyatt Pazdro, most fish; Nate Rector, longest fish; Jacob Wroblewski, heaviest fish; and Shawna Gordon, smallest fish.

Adults: Curt Pazdro, most fish; Bill Paulauskis, longest fish; Gabrella Gordon, heaviest fish; and David Ber, smallest fish.
