Kidney health fundraiser

Matt Misch of Joliet recently competed in the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois’ Kidney Care Classic, a competitive golf tournament that raises funds for patients with kidney disease in Illinois. Misch golfed with three colleagues of his from the Medical Arts Institute.

The tournament offers professionals in the nephrology and transplant fields an opportunity to network with each other, improve processes and build ties to improve patient care.

Club makes sleeping mats

MINOOKA — Sleeping Mats are each crocheted from 700 recycled plastic bags collected by members of Minooka Federated Woman’s Club.

Donna Chesko crocheted three mats that will keep moisture away from the body, create heat and be a soft sleeping area. They will be distributed by Catholic Charities at one of its shelters.

Another of the club’s ongoing projects is the collection of manufacturers’ coupons that are taken to the VFW for distribution and use by military families.
