JOLIET — The following students from St. Mary Nativity School have received November Student of Month awards for gratitude/generosity/citizenship.

Kindergarten: Ian Farrell

Fifth grade: Justin Diaz

Students start letter exchange

FRANKFORT — Spanish students at Lincoln-Way North High School are putting their language skills to the test by exchanging letters with children in Honduras.

“Students are much more motivated to write a real letter to a real person,” said Spanish teacher Linda Egnatz, who initiated the letter exchange with the help of a Lincoln-Way graduate who enjoys traveling to Honduras to work with underprivileged children.
