Wednesday

Blood drive: 3 to 7 p.m. Jan. 9, Lemont Public Library, 50 E. Wend St., Lemont.

Blood drive: 4 to 7 p.m. Jan. 9, Elwood Village Hall, 401 E. Mississippi Ave., Elwood. Call Julie at 815-436-0154 or 815-423-5011 or sign up online at www.heartlandbc.org to reserve your preferred donation time. Walk-ins welcome; appointments preferred. Every donor must bring a photo ID. Donors who are 16 must also bring a Heartland permission slip signed in ink by a parent or guardian. Permission slips available at www.heartlandbc.org. Every donor will receive a $10 Target gift card.

Blood drive: 9 to 11 a.m. Jan. 14, Old Plank Trail Community Bank-Mokena, 20012 Wolf Road, Mokena.

Blood drive: 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Jan. 14, Old Plank Trail Community Bank-Frankfort, 20901 S LaGrange Road, Frankfort.

Lower back pain screening: Individuals experiencing aches, pain, spasm, stiffness or weakness of the lower back are invited to attend a free screening at Silver Cross Health Center, 12701 W. 143rd St., Homer Glen. Screenings will be performed by a physical therapist with The Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. Call 815-300-6288 to schedule an appointment.

Stroke risk assessments: Has a family member ever had a stroke? Stroke risk often runs in the family. No matter what your age you need to learn your risk. Know your risk by participating in a free stroke risk assessment and stroke clinic with a stroke expert at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center, 333 N. Madison St., Joliet. Call 815-725-9438 for upcoming clinic dates and to register.

Walk with a doc program: 6:30 a.m. every Tuesday and Thursday. Meet at Springfield entrance of Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center. Get the day started on the right foot with a 1- to 2-mile walk around the Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center campus. Join cardiologist Dennis Killian for this free health program.

Blood pressure checks: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily at the Silver Cross Health Center, 12701 W. 143rd St. in Homer Glen. Walk-ins welcomed. For more information, call 708-364-6337.
