A visit to the doctor can be an uneasy experience, especially if your physician seems rushed, uses lots of big words and speeds through every sentence.

To make the most of the time you have with your doctor, Dr. Ramaraja Yalavarthi, internal medicine and geriatrics physician at Silver Cross Hospital, will share tips to help you prepare and feel confident about asking questions during your appointment.

The free event, “How to Maximize Your Doctor’s Visit,” will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 31 in the Silver Cross Hospital Conference Center, Pavilion A, 1890 Silver Cross Blvd., New Lenox. Register to attend at www.silvercross.org or call 888-660-4325.

Yalavarthi is board certified in internal medicine and geriatrics. He participated in a psychiatry residency in New York and also an internal medicine residency in Chicago.
