Sax player coming to Timbers
SHOREWOOD — Michael J. Finn will play the saxophone for residents and the public at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 28 at The Timbers of Shorewood, 1100 N. River Road.
Known as the “Sax Player with a Great Voice,” Finn will perform favorite songs from the 1920s through the 1980s. He began playing the saxophone at the age of 10 with instruction by Walt Parazaider, a founding member of the band Chicago.
“I taught myself guitar and piano in grade school and sang lead in a group that I started called The Sound Reaction,” Finn said. “In high school, my dreams continued to grow musically and by fronting a horn band, The Chosen Few, I was able to sharpen my skills in front of larger audiences.”
As Finn continued his musical education in college, he became part of a touring group that played the Playboy Club circuit and large hotel chains. He became a professional disc jockey and traveled the United States. Returning to Chicago in 1984, he got back into live performing.
The event is open to the public and admission is free. Call Shelly Goggins at 815-609-0669 or visit www.timbersofshorewood.com.
