There will be a 50/50 raffle to benefit American Legion Post 1080 and hot dog donations to benefit the Plainfield Lions Club.

Drive One 4 UR School fundraiser: From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Romeoville Christian Academy, 301 W. Normantown Road, Romeoville, people can test drive cars from Ron Baker Ford. For each test drive students arrange, the dealership donates $20 to the school, up to $6,000. Students also will be washing cars and serving food for additional donations.
Mokena farmers market: 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays through Oct. 26 at 11120 Front St. in Mokena. Featuring 40 to 50 vendors weekly plus entertainment. Vendors will be selling fresh produce, breads, cakes, pies, cheeses, honey, salsa, spices, trinkets, antique jewelry, Avon, dog bakery items, Italian breads, pizza and coffee.
Sheriff’s Explorer Post event: The Will County Sheriff’s Office Explorer Post 911 will host its annual Recruitment Night at 7 p.m. Aug. 28 at 24420 S. LaGrange Road. Frankfort. Law enforcement Exploring is a program for those ages 14 to 20 who are in high school or college. The program provides hands-on experience to those who interested in a career in law enforcement. Meet and greet: Bruce Rauner, a candidate for governor, will have a meet-and-greet hosted by the Homer Founders Club at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 29 at Woodbine Country Club, 14250 W. 151st St., Homer Glen. There is no cost. Rauner will speak and answer questions.
Luau picnic: The Crest Hill Lions Club will host a luau-themed picnic fundraiser from noon to 10 p.m. Sept. 1 at St. Joseph Park, 700 Theodore St., Joliet. There will be a car show and kids games from noon to 4 p.m. On stage will be the Melody Kings polka band at 12:30 p.m., followed by The Baked Potatoes at 2:30 p.m. At 6 p.m., Johnny Russler and the Beach Bum Band will play. At 7 p.m., Hawaiian hula and fire dancers will provide entertainment. The event is free. Fall Fest: St. Joseph Parish in Joliet will host its third annual Fall Fest from 1 to 9 p.m. Sept. 8 at St. Joseph Park, at Theodore Street and Raynor Avenue in Joliet. Featuring live music, food by Duke’s Catering, bingo, a bake sale, a vendor and craft fair, a big wheel, raffles and more.
