Here is a look at what’s coming up in the Joliet region.
Fall Fest: St. Joseph Parish in Joliet will host its third annual Fall Fest from 1 to 9 p.m. Sept. 8 at St. Joseph Park, at Theodore Street and Raynor Avenue in Joliet. Featuring live music, food by Duke’s Catering, bingo, a bake sale, a vendor and craft fair, a big wheel, raffles and more.
Thrift shop sale: The Channahon United Methodist Church thrift shop, 24751 W. Eames St., Channahon, will have a half-price sale from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 9.
Discovery Dinner: The Gaylord Building, 200 W. Eighth St., Lockport, will present Dennis Cremin, renowned author and an associate professor of history at Lewis University, as its next Discovery Dinner speaker. The event will be at 6 p.m. Sept. 12, with dinner catered by the Public Landing Restaurant. Cremin will discuss his newest work, “Grant Park: The Evolution of Chicago’s Front Yard.” Doors open at 5:45 p.m. with a cash bar reception. The night will conclude with a book signing and meet-and-greet with Cremin. Advance registration is required. Flea market: The Old Campground Antiques, Collectibles, Flea Market and Grandpa’s Attic Sale is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 21 at the old campgrounds of the United Methodist Church of New Lenox, 339 W. Haven Ave. The rain date is 1 to 5 p.m. Sept. 22. Information: 815-485-8271, Ext. 53.
Fall brunch: Minooka United Methodist Church, 205 Church St., Minooka, will host a brunch from 8 a.m. to noon Sept. 22. Reservations are not required. There will be made-to-order omelets and eggs, stuffed French toast, country ham, sausage, potatoes, biscuits and gravy, pancakes, crepes, fruit salad and homemade pastries. Tickets for adults are $9 in advance or $10 at the door. Children ages 4 to 10 are $5. Kids under 4 are free. For more information, call 815-467-2332.
End of life session: St. Bernard’s Parish, 13030 W. 143rd St., Homer Glen. Bill Beckman, executive director of the Illinois Right to Life Committee will discuss Christian preparation for the end of life at 7 p.m.
