Autumn Elegance Event: The Visitation and Aid Society of Joliet is holding its main fundraiser of the year at the Jacob Henry Mansion, 20 S. Eastern Ave., Joliet. The public is invited for a night of dining and dancing. Social hour at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m. and dancing at 8:30 p.m. Cost is $100 per person. For reservations, call 815-741-4243. Holiday Vendor Fair: The third annual Troy 30C Foundation Holiday Vendor Fair will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 2 at Orenic Intermediate School, 5820 W. Theodore St., Plainfield. The event will feature about 50 crafters/vendors as well as raffles, concessions, a craft area, book readings and more. The event supports grants given to teachers in Troy School District 30C to enhance learning. A $1 donation is suggested for adults; children are free.
Vendor/Craft Fair: The Will County Union of King’s Daughters and Sons will hold its second annual Silver Crossings Vendor/Craft Fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 2 in the Silver Cross Hospital Conference Center, Pavilion A, 1890 Silver Cross Blvd., New Lenox. Valet, shuttle bus service and admission are free. More than 40 artisans will be selling handmade craft items and homemade baked goods. There will be free games for children, and food will be sold in the dining room. The also will be a raffle with cash prizes of $1,000, $500 and $250. Costume ball: Romeoville’s Youth Outreach Commission will host a costume ball from 7 to 11 p.m. at Friendship Centre at HighPoint, 175 HighPoint Drive, Romeoville. St. Joseph Parish Museum Open House:The Ancel Center will have an open house from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the former St. Joseph Grade School building for all parishioners and friends. Exhibits feature more than 120 years of parish and school activities, history, photos and memorabilia. All are welcome. This will be the last open house until April.
Fashion Show: St. Genevieve Lodge No. 108 KSKJ Life will co-sponsor a fashion show, along with the Joliet Area Community Hospice Guild, to benefit the Joliet Area Community Hospice from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 3 at the Renaissance Center, 214 N. Remembering JFK: The White Oak Library District will host “Remembering JFK” from 2 to 3 p.m. Nov. 3 at the Lockport Branch Library, 121 E. Eighth St. The event will take place in second-floor meeting rooms A and B. Historian Jim Gibbons’ presentation will mark the 50th anniversary of Kennedy’s assassination, which is Nov. 22. The focus of the program will be the events in November 1963 and the controversy surrounding them. A question-and-answer session will follow. The program is part of the library’s open house week to celebrate the newly remodeled library building. Registration is preferred, but walk-ins will be accepted. Spaghetti Dinner: The Lockport Township High School Band Boosters are hosting a spaghetti dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Nov. 3 in the East Campus cafeteria, 1333 E. Seventh St. Dinners are $7 for adults and $5 for children. There will be a bake sale and raffles. Proceeds will help the band attend the Bands of America Grand National Championships for the first time.
