Doctor’s talk will explain osteoporosis

Updated: August 4, 2011 4:20PM

MORRIS — Dr. Hadi Hedayati, a rheumatologist on staff at Morris Hospital, is presenting a free program, “What You Should Know About Osteoporosis” from 3-4 p.m. May 3 in Whitman Assembly room 1 at the hospital, 150 W. High St. in Morris.

Osteoporosis is a condition in which bones become weak and can break more easily. Approximately one half of all women older than 50 are likely to break a bone because of osteoporosis. The condition affects men, too, with up to one in four at risk for experiencing a bone fracture as a result of osteoporosis.

Breaking a bone can be serious, especially when you’re older. Hedayati will talk about osteoporosis prevention, detection, and treatments.

Registration is available online at www.morrishospital.org or by calling 815-416-6089.
