LOCKPORT — The Australian Cattle Dog Rescue of Illinois, an all-volunteer rescue licensed by the Illinois Department of Agriculture and a nonprofit charity, has as its mission to rescue, find homes and promote understanding, respect and compassion for cattle dogs.
The organization rescues cattle dogs from kill shelters in several states. Its goal is to provide a better living environment with good food, exercise, veterinary treatment and loving care.
The group is soliciting donations from area businesses for gift baskets for a silent auction at the 11 a.m. Aug. 7 annual fundraiser picnic to be held at the Moose Picnic Grounds, 15102 159th St.
Donors can have their donation recognized as coming from their business at the fundraiser, and on the group’s Facebook page. Business cards will be added to the information table.
To contribute money, make checks payable to ACD Rescue of Illinois.
For information, or to have a donation picked up, contact picnic chairman Lois Carberry at 815-530-1749 or e-mail banditsluv@msn.com.
