Lincoln-Way Central puts spotlight on science skills

Updated: May 9, 2012 10:03AM

Lincoln-Way Central Science teachers are honoring students in their fourth year of their Science Students of the Month program.

“The purpose of the award is to recognize students’ efforts in science,” said Steve Provis, principal of Lincoln-Way Central.

The students are nominated by their teachers for various types of achievements: class participation and excellence in homework are two examples, said Sarah Highfill, science department chair.

Fifty-two students were nominated by eight teachers for August; sixty-seven students were nominated by 11 teachers for September.

August winners are Allison White, Kayla Weber, Jaclyn Filewicz, Carolyn Weiss and Alyssa Graffy.

September winners are Lanie Martineck, Janice Armstrong, Sonja Brendes, Patricia Clare and Kim Brandt.
