CHANNAHON — Kindergarten school fees will be the only fees rising with the next school year in Channahon School District, and that increase is due to this year’s switch from half-day kindergarten to full-day.
The 2012-13 kindergarten fees will rise from $70 to $135, in line with grade 1-7 fees.
Other fees will remain the same.
They are $79 for early childhood; $170 for eighth grade; $50 for band; $2.30 per day for lunches; $40 for an interscholastic sport; and $25 for a non-interscholastic sport.
The school board this week also approved spending $33,355 from next year’s budget on a new science curriculum with lab equipment, supplemental materials, nonfiction reading materials and 10 iPads.
No new textbooks will be purchased at this time, administrators said. Updated science common core standards have not yet been developed.
Applications and e-textbooks on the new iPads will be used by junior high students in science labs.
