Bob Sirott of Fox TV made a good impression on the folks at the Joliet Area Historical Museum last week.

Sirott stopped in at the museum gift shop after an interview with Glen Campbell, who was performing at the Rialto Square Theatre.

Museum staff said Sirott was nice to talk with and showed genuine interest in Joliet history and Route 66 exhibits. He was there for a half-hour before heading off to Chicago, where Sirott mentioned the museum during his newscast.

Tea party time

Speaking of Chicago media personalities, Dan Proft, the conservative talk show host on WLS-AM, will be in town Feb. 7.

Proft will emcee the Joliet Tea Party’s Will County Candidate Convention, which is 6-9 p.m. at VFW Cantigny Post 367 in Joliet.

Convention organizers expect at least 17 conservative and tea party candidates for races ranging from Will County Board to the 11th Congressional District.

Still in the game

Jamie Toole, who was general manager of the Joliet JackHammers during its last season in 2010, still is in the sports business.

Toole is president of Eloot Sports & Entertainment, a sports marketing business which was the first licensee to sign up for the new Business Evolution Center at the Plainfield Village Hall.

The center provides start-up and home-based businesses with office space and equipment for a fee. The village last week announced the opening of the center and sent out a written statement quoting Toole as saying, “We hope to use the business center as a springboard to grow into a permanent location in Plainfield while having a positive impact in the community.

Joliet Region Chamber of Commerce member Terry D’Arcy of D’Arcy Buick/GMC/Volkswagen/Hyundai was interviewed by CBS and was to appear on the CBS Evening News on Friday.

D’Arcy discussed the current economic situation in the Joliet community and his business
