Deadline set to sign up to vote

JOLIET — Will County Clerk Nancy Schultz Voots reminds those not registered to vote that Feb. 21 is the last day to register to vote in the March 20 general primary election.

Hours are from 8;30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays at the county clerk’s office, 302 N. Chicago St. The office will remain open to
6 p.m. Feb. 21.

‘Rocket Boys’ author to speak

JOLIET — Homer Hickam, author of “Rocket Boys,” the selection for this year’s Great Read community reading program, will visit with readers via Skype at a special program at 7 p.m. Feb. 15 at Barnes and Noble, 2621 Plainfield Road.

The event is free and open to the public. A Nook e-reader will be given away after the program.

The Great Read is presented by the Plainfield School District; Plainfield, Joliet and Fountaindale public libraries; Plainfield Township; and area Barnes and Noble stores.
