BOLINGBROOK — Prosecutors announced a teenager will be tried as an adult for allegedly shooting another 16-year-old last month.

Brandon Thompson, 16, of Bolingbrook, faces three counts of aggravated battery with a firearm, one count of armed robbery and one count of reckless discharge of a firearm for reportedly trying to rob a 16-year-old man during a narcotics deal Jan. 29.

The victim was shot in the neck when he reportedly met Thompson behind a business in the 100 block of West Boughton Road. Police arrested Thompson on Saturday night.

“The aggravated battery charges are a Class X felony that cannot be prosecuted in juvenile court since the defendant is over 15 years old,” Will County State’s Attorney spokesman Charles B. Pelkie said. Thompson is being held at the River Valley Juvenile Detention Center on $250,000 bond.

Sex abuse charges

BOLINGBROOK — A 20-year-old man has been accused of having sex with a 15-year-old girl.

In November, a woman learned her daughter had begun a relationship with Michael A. Casas when she was 14 and he was 19.

“The mother did not approve of the relationship (in which) Casas engaged in consensual relations with the daughter,” Lt. Mike Rompa said.

Police began an investigation and obtained a warrant to arrest Casas, of 244 Plainview Drive, on a charge of criminal sexual abuse. He was arrested around 7:45 p.m. Monday and booked into the county jail where he is being held on $20,000 bond.

In June, Casas was charged with burglary, vandalism and resisting arrest after he allegedly broke into the Bolingbrook Recreation and Aquatic Complex.
