PLAINFIELD — The Plainfield Village Board on Monday approved an amendment to the intergovernmental cooperative planning and boundary agreement with its neighbor, the city of Joliet.
Village planner Michael Garrigan said approval granted by the board means that the agreement is extended for a five-year period, or until Jan. 1, 2017.
The original agreement between Plainfield and Joliet dates to 1990. An addendum was approved the following year, and in 2004 an amendment to the 1990 agreement was approved that extended the agreement to January 2012.
The proposed boundaries between the two remain the same and generally follow Walker Road with the exception of several parcels within the village that are located south of Walker. Garrigan said the boundary agreement is in the strategic interest of both communities as it helps with long-term planning for developments.
