Valley View looking for more FANS

ROMEOVILLE — Valley View School District’s Friends and Neighbors Supporting Students, or FANS, program will conduct a districtwide search for people who care about children and are willing to give of their time to help them succeed in school.

The next training session for FANS is from 10 a.m. to noon Feb. 18 at the Valley View Administrative Office, at 755 Dalhart.

Reservations are needed and can be made by calling Michele Bochnak at 815-886-2700.

Other training sessions will take place from 6:30-8:30 p.m. March 21 and 10 a.m. to noon April 21.

FANS at the high school level serve in various capacities, including meeting and greeting students during high-traffic periods before and after school and during lunch and mentoring.

Middle school and elementary school FANS could be bilingual tutors, hall monitors, lunch buddy mentors, subject tutors, mentors, reading assistants and more.
