JOLIET — He probably should’ve emptied his pockets outside.

Visitors to the River Valley Juvenile Detention Center at 3200 W. McDonough St. must go through security.

Devante Saxton, 19, came to the center around 11:30 a.m. Feb. 2 and emptied his pockets as required.

He “removed five bags of cannabis from his jacket and placed them in a bin to be scanned by the metal detector,” according to reports.

The pot prompted security to hold the teen —something the center’s staff has a lot of experience with — and call the Will County Sheriff’s Department.

A deputy arrived and arrested Saxton, of 358 N. Broadway, on a charge of cannabis possession.

But Saxton didn’t have to become an inmate at the center he was trying to visit.

He was released on $100 bond.
