March of Dimes kickoff

JOLIET — The March of Dimes and the March for Babies Walk Committee will hold a kickoff event from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at The Tilted Kilt at Westfield Louis Joliet mall.

This year’s walk committee — Tom Lamoureaux from Hometown National Bank, Nancylee Martyka from Macy’s and the team from Westfield Louis Joliet — will participate.

There will be food, a raffle and cash bar.

Plainfield music contest

PLAINFIELD — The community is invited to hear the best of Plainfield School District’s high school choral and instrumental musicians at a free event at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Plainfield North High School auditorium, 12005 S. 248th St.

All district high school band and choir students will be judged in various vocal and instrumental categories from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Top performers will be selected to perform in the Honors Recital at 1 p.m.
