YORKVILLE — When it comes to finding out what services citizens want from their city government, Yorkville is not monkeying around.
They are using the website surveymonkey.com to find out what citizens like and don’t like, and what they want in the future, from city government. The City Council approved the format of the survey on Tuesday night.
Citizens will get a link to the survey online, and a password, in each utility bill, as will commercial users. Each utility account will have a unique, random password to keep anyone from hijacking the survey.
According to a memo from Bart Olson, city administrator, if more than one resident in a household wants to take the survey, they can call City Hall for more passwords, if they give their utility address.
He said for people who do not have Internet access, the city will encourage people to use the public library.
In some cases, as staff time allows, residents can take the survey over the phone, Olson said.
The survey itself asks people to rate a bevy of services from very satisfied to very dissatisfied. It also asks for ratings of specific police and public works services, a rating of public safety services and asks people how they specifically want city tax money spent.
It also asks people their opinion of economic development in the city, and what kind of industry and retail the city should be pursuing.
It asks people their opinion of city events, and ideas for future events.
