Pantry gets food out to 180 families

MORRIS — Despite freezing temperatures, 160 families took part in the mobile food pantry Feb. 8 in Gardner, which was sponsored by Morris Hospital.
With a total of 8,018 pounds of food delivered, each household received 50 pounds, including 11 pounds of frozen meat and a variety of other items.
“It’s really a privilege for us to be able to assist We Care with their food supply and distribution a few times a year,” said John Roundtree, one of the volunteers from Morris Hospital. “There’s nothing quite like seeing We Care in action.
The next mobile food pantry is sponsored by First Midwest Bank and will be March 14 at Diamond Banquet Hall, 55 S. Daley St.
Registration will begin at 3:45 p.m. and at least the first 100 numbers for a place in line will be Recipients are asked to provide proof of their residency either with a valid driver’s license, state ID or utility bill with their current Grundy County address.
