NEW LENOX — Residents will be able to hear “Magic Man,” “Sister Christian” and “Come Sail Away” performed live by their famous singers this summer.
The classic rock bands Heart, Night Ranger and Styx will perform at the Fourth Annual Triple Play concert series in the commons this summer.
Mayor Tim Baldermann announced the performers at the village board meeting Monday.
Night Ranger kicks off the series June 2. Styx performs Sept. 1.
Heart is the only band performing on a Friday night, July 20. It is the first time the series will have a Friday night performance. The village wanted to book Heart, and that was the band’s only availability, he said.
Tickets will be available only at the Village Hall, 1 Veterans Parkway. Advance ticket sales for New Lenox residents are March 19 through April 27 at a discounted rate of $50 for the three-show series. After that, tickets cost $60 for everyone.
Single tickets may be available the day of the concert only if it isn’t already sold out.
Trustee Ray Tuminello said he strongly suggested residents get their tickets right away. Last year, the Triple Play series sold out early.
Each of the three concerts will also feature a food drive for the New Lenox Food Pantry. Attendees are asked to bring a nonperishable food item when they come.
Donations to the pantry are the leanest in the summer months, Trustee Annette Bowden said.
“It’s unfortunate there’s such a need, but there really is,” Baldermann said.
The night of the concerts, the park will open at 5:30 p.m. The first opening act starts at 5:45 p.m. The second starts at 7 p.m. The headliner is at 9 p.m.
