Police: Teen sexually assaulted at Joliet youth home

JOLIET — A 13-year-old allegedly was exually assaulted by a 15-year-old boy Wednesday at Aunt Martha’s Joliet Boys Home.
Both teens are residents of the home for boys with disciplinary issues. The juveniles are under the guardianship of the Department of Children and Family Services and have been placed at the residence to receive supervision, counseling and an education.
Chief Mike Trafton said police were called at 5:40 p.m. Wednesday to Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center where the victim was being treated.
“Both juveniles were staying at Aunt Martha’s, 1 N. Center St., when the assault occurred,” Trafton said. “When officers were sent to the home, they learned the suspect had just been transferred to another facility in Chicago.”
Police said the 13-year-old will have a “victim sensitive interview” with detectives. The incident is under investigation.
