Work to start Monday on Route 6 in Joliet

Route 6 work to start Monday

JOLIET — The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that a resurfacing project on Route 6 from Empress Road to Terry Drive is scheduled to begin, weather permitting, on Monday.

The project will require reducing Route 6 to one lane in each direction during the daytime hours.

Tentative completion date is June 1.

P.T. Ferro Construction Co., of Joliet, is the prime contractor on the $407,671 project.

Heroin forum April 25

PLAINFIELD — Will County State’s Attorney James Glasgow and County Executive Larry Walsh will discuss the response to the growing problems of heroin use and drug overdose deaths 6-8 p.m. April 25 at Plainfield North High School, 12005 S. 248th St.

There forum is open to all area students and parents.

Glasgow, Walsh, John Roberts from the HERO (Heroin Epidemic Relief Organization) and a recovering heroin addict will speak.

Representatives of the Joliet Elk’s Lodge 296 will provide resource materials.
