Work to require lane closures on I-80

JOLIET — The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that bridge repairs and deck patching on Interstate 80 will require lane and ramp closures, weather permitting.
Starting at 8 p.m. Friday, eastbound I-80 will be reduced to one lane from just west of Interstate 55 to just east of the Des Plaines River bridge. Westbound I-80 will be reduced to one lane from just west of Briggs Street to just east of I-55.
While the lanes are closed, the exit ramps to Center Street and Meadow Avenue will be closed. The southbound Chicago Street entrance to westbound I-80 also will be closed, with traffic detoured to the eastbound I-80 entrance ramp to access westbound I-80 via northbound Chicago Street.
All lanes and ramps are scheduled to reopen, weather permitting, by 5 a.m. Monday.
Waste collection Saturday
ROMEOVILLE — Household hazardous wastes and electronics will be collected from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Spartan Square parking lot, one block south of Normantown Road and Route 53.
The event is sponsored by the village of Romeoville and Will County Land Use Department.
The free event is open to Will County residents only.
