Updated: May 11, 2012 8:06AM

GREEN GARDEN TOWNSHIP — A Wisconsin man was killed Sunday when the car he was riding in rolled over.

Will County Sheriff’s police say Jason M. Manchester, 32, of Racine was riding in a black 2002 Ford Thunderbird being driven by a 17-year-old Racine girl about 4:15 p.m.

“The vehicle was northbound on Scheer Road at a high rate of speed when it appeared to lose control on the loose gravel and rolled several times,” reports said.

The passenger was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver suffered head and arm injuries but was wearing a seat belt and is expected to survive.

The Thunderbird was owned by a relative of the occupants who lives in New Lenox, reports said.

Two escape charges

JOLIET — Two men who were with a man who reportedly engaged in a standoff with police last week will not face charges.

After being reviewed by the state’s attorney’s office, charges of unauthorized possession of ammunition were not filed in court against Patrick L. Sawyer, 20, and Robert O. Johnson, 18.

Daniel J. Johnson, 19, remains in the county jail facing a $20,000 bond on that charge, in addition to obstructing a police officer, reckless driving and aggravated fleeing from police.

About 1:50 p.m. April 3, Daniel Johnson was driving a blue sport utility vehicle with Sawyer and Robert Johnson (no relation) as passengers. When police attempted to stop the vehicle in the 900 block of Hickory Street, Daniel Johnson reportedly jumped out with a handgun and ran into a first-floor apartment in 900 Summit St. Johnson surrendered to police about three hours later after the block had been evacuated and a SWAT team called in. Police said no firearm was discovered in the apartment, but ammunition was found inside the vehicle.

Three hurt in crash

ROMEOVILLE — Three people, two adults and an infant, were treated and released from the hospital after a crash Sunday at Weber Road and Creekside Drive.

Romeoville police said a truck and a sport utility vehicle collided at 11:43 a.m.. The SUV, police said, became uncontrollable because of a stuck accelerator, causing the occupants to jump from the vehicle in a farm field.

The SUV then crossed Romeo Road and crashed into an unoccupied business at 441 N. Weber Road.

The three occupants of the SUV were taken to Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital.
