Updated: May 21, 2012 8:50AM

ROMEOVILLE — Annually, early childhood providers and families join forces with the National Association for the Education of Young Children to honor, celebrate and advocate for children, families and child-care professionals during Week of the Young Child, which is from April 22-28. April is also Child Abuse Prevention Month.

At Rasmussen College, two Stewards of Children workshops will be offered for free. The workshops are designed to educate adults on how to help prevent sexual abuse in children and help educate adults in how to react responsibly to children who are potentially being abused.

Rasmussen, in partnership with Child Care Resource and Referral, Joliet Area Association for the Education of Young Children, Will County Childcare Association, Stepping Stones Home Daycare and MB Financial, will host trainings Tuesday and Wednesday.

Rasmussen also will hold a Children’s Health and Wellness Carnival from 3-7 p.m. April 27.
