Chicago area residents face frosty Monday morning

Updated: April 22, 2012 10:48PM

Spring is here -- but the Chicago area could be due for a frigid flashback to winter come Monday morning.

The National Weather Service in Chicago Sunday issued a “freeze warning” to last Monday from 3 a.m. to 8 a.m.

Sub-freezing temperatures are expected between 28 and 32 degrees, which could convince many early bird commuters to dust off their heavy winter coats. But on the bright side, the NWS predicts a sunny day, and temperatures are slated to climb quickly after sunrise and peak at 57 degrees.

Things could also get a bit windy. The NWS predicts north-northwest winds between 10 and 15 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
