Trail cleanup scheduled

Updated: June 3, 2012 8:03AM

NEW LENOX — New Lenox is organizing a cleanup day on Saturday to clean up the Old Plank Road bike trail.

Volunteers will meet at 9 a.m. at the Village Hall. They will split up, half going east and half going west.

They will walk the trail for approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, picking up trash and debris along the way.

Afterward, hot dogs and pop will be provided. Also, Old Plank Trail Bank will serve free snow cones.

This is the first year the village is doing the cleanup, said Carol Hennessy, the assistant to the village administrator. She is not sure how long it will take for people to walk the trail. All times are approximate.

The Will County Forest Preserve will provide the garbage bags and supplies.

Anyone planning to volunteer is asked to register by calling Hennessy at the Village Hall at 815-462-6400.
