Anniversary food drive

JOLIET — Joliet Branch 305 of National Association of Letter Carriers will hold its 20th anniversary food drive Saturday.

Residents are asked to leave a bag of food at their doorsteps or mailboxes to be picked up by carriers and distributed to needy Joliet families through local food banks.

Get the buzz on bees

PLAINFIELD — Attend the 7 p.m. Monday Green Village Lecture Series at the Plainfield Public Library and you’ll learn why bees are important and how to help support bee habitats as they are threatened by environmental hazards.

When it comes to pollinating plants to create the fruit and flowers that we love, no one does it better than bees. At the same time, bees around the world have been threatened.

The lecture series is a partnership between the village and library district to host monthly workshops with an environmental focus.
