Fashion show at Al’s

JOLIET — Models are scheduled to show off new fashions Wednesday at Al’s Steakhouse, 1990 W. Jefferson St. Cable TV talk show host Diana Stonitsch is organizing the Ministry of Fashion show, scheduled for noon to 1:30 p.m.

Teen boating course

MORRIS — Grundy County Sheriff Terry Marketti has announced his office will host an Illinois Department of Natural Resources Boating Education Course from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 1 to 5 p.m. May 20 in the Sheriff’s Department Training Room in the lower level of the James L. Olson Law Enforcement Center, 111 E. Illinois Ave.

State legislation requires that ages 12-17 obtain a Boating Safety Education Certificate before they can legally operate a motor-driven boat or personal watercraft without adult supervision.

Metra stairs closed

JOLIET — The stairway at the Metra railroad tracks on Van Buren Street behind St. Anthony’s Church is closed because of a BNSF rail bridge repair project.

For the next two weeks, Metra advises the public to use the stairs at the Union Station Depot, 50 E. Jefferson St., for access to the platform.
