MINOOKA — The Minooka Police Department will host a bike safety rodeo from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the station, 121 E. McEvilly Road.

The rodeo is open to grades K-5. Trophies will be awarded in three age classes.

Prior to the rodeo, an auction of unclaimed property and bikes will be held behind the police station. Property can be viewed from 8 to 8:30 a.m.

Looking for future cops

PLAINFIELD — The Plainfield Police Department is seeking applicants for its police explorer program, which is geared toward those planning a career in law enforcement.

The program is open to ages 14-20.

Those interested must complete an application, pass a background check and have their parents’ permission.

Applications are available at the police department, 14300 S. Coil Plus Drive, during regular business hours. High school students may get an application from their school’s resource officer.
