Members of the Naperville Police Department and eight other law enforcement agencies will be conducting a “directed traffic safety initiative” May 9 on Route 59 in portions of Will, DuPage and Cook counties.
The initiative aims “to increase the safety of citizens utilizing the thoroughfare through education and traffic enforcement,” Naperville police Sgt. Gregg Bell said Tuesday in a release. “Our efforts will concentrate on speed and occupant restraint violations, as well as other safety violations” noted during the effort, Bell said.
In addition to Naperville police, agencies participating in the initiative include the Aurora, Bartlett, Plainfield, Shorewood, Streamwod, Warrenville and West Chicago police departments and the District 5 Illinois State Police. Bell said each agency will implement its own enforcement action based on the needs of the local community.
