Police blotter: Parolee kept pair at gunpoint, cops say

Updated: June 11, 2012 10:12AM

JOLIET — Police say a parolee who isn’t allowed to leave his house kept two others inside at gunpoint Tuesday night.

Chief Mike Trafton said police were called at 11:14 p.m. to 2201 Taylor Street where officers met a 21-year-old man and 17-year-old woman near the front yard.

“They were interviewed separately and both said they had been inside using cocaine with Justin C. Kaiser and when they attempted to leave, he told them they couldn’t, took out a firearm and pointed it at them,” Trafton said.

When Kaiser reportedly turned his back, the pair fled outside and called 911.

“Officers set up a perimeter and asked Kaiser to come outside. He did so and they could see he was wearing a IDOC ankle monitor. A search of the residence later found a Taurus revolver underneath the victim’s vehicle in the garage,” Trafton said.

Kaiser, 22, was booked into the county jail on charges of aggravated unlawful restraint, unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a firearm by a gang member and violating parole conditions.

Records show Kaiser has previously been convicted on weapons and vandalism charges and was released on parole in March.

JOLIET — A man told police he was shot while gambling on the street Tuesday night.

Chief Mike Trafton said the 21-year-old victim was playing dice at 7:42 p.m. in the 200 block of Hickory Street when a black man wearing a ski mask approached them.

“The victim said the attacker shot him and fled. The bullet passed through his right arm and went into his liver,” Trafton said. The victim was hospitalized, but his injury was considered non-life-threatening, according to reports.

Traffic stop finds heroin

BOLINGBROOK — A Plano woman was arrested after police reportedly found heroin in her car during a traffic stop Tuesday.

Lt. Mike Rompa said officers were on patrol at 3:40 p.m. when they observed a black Honda run a stop sign in the 600 block of North Ashbury Avenue.

Driver Nicole B. Gomez, 20, was rearranging items in the car before the officer approached “and was excessively nervous” when the officer began talking with her, Rompa said.

“Further investigation revealed Gomez possessing several small bags of heroin, which totaled approximately five grams,” Rompa said.

Gomez, of 87 Woodland Drive, was booked into the county jail on charges of possession of narcotics with intent to deliver, narcotics possession and disobeying a traffic control. The Honda was impounded by police.
