JOLIET — National Women’s Health Week draws to a befitting close at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center on Saturday with the third annual Powerful Women, “Wake-Up Call!”

The physician “guests” will be asked questions regarding healthcare issues affecting women today. These medical experts will discuss leading-edge treatments available through their offices and Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center as well as candidly answer questions from the host and audience.
Topics such as the controversial vaginal mesh and bladder sling, early menopause, hormone replacement, radiation risks, and the important role of the primary care physician will be highlighted. Guest speakers Drs. Mickey Jester, Nahla Merhi, Wendy Marshall and Deirdra Greathouse-Williams are four powerful women who will be among those physicians practicing in Provena’s new Healing Arts Pavilion scheduled to open in New Lenox this July.
The free program will be 8:30-11 a.m. in the center’s Bruce J Wallin, M.D. Auditorium, and will include health screenings, information booths and mini-massages.
