Two pulled from Heideke Lake after boat capsizes

Updated: June 14, 2012 8:23AM

COAL CITY — Two people spent about a half-hour treading water in Heideke Lake after their boat capsized Friday.

Firefighter Nick Doerfler said the victims were on the lake about 12:05 p.m. when their 16-foot V-bottom craft started taking on water and overturned.

“Bystanders were able to call 911 when they saw they were in trouble and with the wind and current were able to help them reach the shore,” Doerfler said. “They were able to get out around 12:30 p.m.”

The ages of the victims were not known immediately, but they were not seriously injured, Doerfler said.
