Police Blotter: Man facing charges after allegedly touching woman

Updated: June 29, 2012 9:28AM

BOLINGBROOK — Police say a man tried touching a 19-year-old woman at her workplace last week.

Lt. Mike Rompa said the victim was working around noon May 10 in the 1100 block of West Boughton Road when Andre X. Smith, 33, came in to file a credit application.

“He began flirting with the victim and kept approaching her over (the next) 30 minutes,” Rompa said. When the young woman finished her shift and walked out to the parking lot, Smith made “unwelcomed physical contact with the victim in several different ways and then would not allow her into her vehicle.”

He reportedly touched her again and gave her his phone number before he left. The woman instead chose to call police who obtained a warrant for Smith’s arrest.

Smith, of 304 Woodcreek Drive, was taken into custody Wednesday morning and booked into the county jail on charges of battery and unlawful restraint.
