Funeral services set for Bolingbrook drowning victim

BOLINGBROOK — A funeral service has been set for an 11-year-old Bolingbrook girl who drowned Tuesday.

Jordan Oliver, a fifth-grader at Pioneer Elementary School, died Tuesday night after slipping underwater in a pond at Indian Chase Meadows near the school.

Bolingbrook police and fire crews responded to the 1400 block of Raven Avenue about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. Dive teams from Bolingbrook and Naperville found the girl and pulled her from the water about 6:30 p.m., according to police.

Rescue crews immediately began CPR and took her to Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 8:08 p.m.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Jubilee Baptist Church, 660 Royce Road in Bolingbrook.

A funeral service will follow the visitation at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville.

Jordan is survived by her mother and father, Denise (Hylton) and Jamal Oliver of Bolingbrook; two sisters, Jasmine and Jacquelyn Oliver; and one brother, Devin Oliver; grandparents, the Honorable Eugene Oliver Jr. and Hope, and Denzil and Olva Monica Hylton; and great-grandmother Ethelyn Oliver.

The Oliver family has established a memorial fund in Jordan’s memory at PNC Bank.
