JOLIET — Downtown Joliet’s Farmers Market begins Friday at Van Buren Plaza and Chicago Street.

Chicago Street will be closed to traffic from Van Buren to Jefferson Street.

This year, 25 vendors are participating and will offer a variety of produce, fresh cut flowers and plants, jewelry, crafts, food items including bakery products, locally manufactured sausage and apple-wood smoked bacon, fresh hummus, olives, pizza, corn on the cob, dog and cat treats and items, cinnamon roasted nuts, specialty soaps and creams, several franchises, educational books and more.

Market hours are from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Friday through Sept. 28, except Sept. 14.

The market is sponsored by the Joliet City Center Partnership and the city of Joliet.
