NEW LENOX — Mayor Tim Baldermann announced Monday that New Lenox has returned to Tier 1 watering restrictions effective immediately.
A total ban on outdoor sprinkling had been in effect for a few days.
“We needed to get the reserves back up to where they were,” Baldermann told the village board.
Water levels were dropped to critical levels caused by a backup from Oak Lawn. The restriction allowed the reserves to replenish in case of emergencies, such as fires or water main breaks.
Residents may now water lawns and gardens from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. on odd or even dates, based on the property address. Afternoon sprinkling is prohibited.
