Bolingbrook police arrest shooter on the run

BOLINGBROOK — Police reportedly found a shooter running from the scene Friday night.

At 8:10 p.m. police were called to a parking lot on Beaconridge Drive after witnesses reported hearing shots and “a subject on the ground with several people on top of him,” Lt. Mike Rompa said.

A responding officer reportedly saw Guadalupe Gavin, 19, running nearby on Route 53 and found he was carrying a .25-caliber handgun.

Rompa said it was unknown if anyone was hit by the shots as “several subjects were observed fleeing the area prior to police arrival.”

Guadalupe, of 209 N. Lancaster Drive, was booked into the county jail on charges of aggravated discharge of firearm, unlawful use of a weapon and unauthorized possession of a firearm.

Joliet police: Two men
shot in parking lot

JOLIET — Two men were shot in a parking lot early Thursday.

Cmdr. Al Roechner said officers were near Second Avenue and Richards Street when they heard gunfire.

“They found two victims in a vehicle. One man was struck in the back near his ribs and the other in his hand,” Roechner said. Neither wound appeared to be life-threatening.

At the scene, police also learned another vehicle was struck by several rounds after the driver pulled in after his friends but sped away when the shots started.

None of the victims provided officers with a description of whoever shot at them and said they had no reason to be targeted.

JOLIET — Officers reportedly heard shots after breaking up a street brawl Wednesday night.

At 10:50 p.m., police were on patrol when they encountered approximately 50 people fighting at Fourth and Mississippi avenues, Cmdr. Al Roechner said.

“They refused to disperse and as officers were clearing the scene they heard shots near Third Avenue,” Roechner said.

Police reportedly found a Browning .380 handgun and shell casings on a nearby porch and questioned three men.

After consulting with the Will County state’s attorney’s office, police released the 26-year-old, 23-year-old and 18-year-old suspect without charges.
