Police issue warrant for Manteno shooting suspect

MANTENO - Authorities in Kankakee County are looking for a 25-year-old man wanted for shooting a co-worker inside a warehouse in rural Manteno on Wednesday afternoon.
Emergency personnel responded at 1:53 p.m. to a person shot inside the warehouse at 1125 W. Sycamore St. in Manteno, according to a Kankakee County Sheriff’s office spokesman.
The wounded person was flown to a Chicago-area hospital and their condition was “stable” as of Thursday afternoon, according to the sheriff’s office.
Authorities issued an arrest warrant for Rene Flores of Kankakee, a release Thursday from the sheriff’s office said.
Flores should be considered armed and dangerous, police said. He allegedly fled the scene of the shooting in a black 2010 Chrysler 3000 with tinted windows. He is described a a 5-foot-9, 190-pound Hispanic, last seen wearing all black clothing and a black baseball cap.
Anyone with information on Flores’s whereabouts should call Crime Stoppers of Kankakee County at (815) 932-7463. A reward of up to $1,000 is offered for information that leads to an arrest.
