Police Blotter: Cops say teen hit by drunk driver

PEOTONE TOWNSHIP — A 17-year-old girl was critically injured after being struck by an alleged drunk driver Friday night.
Shortly after 9 p.m., the Manhattan resident and a 20-year-old Peotone man were walking near Division Street and Wilmington-Peotone Road when they were hit by a vehicle driven by Fidencio Castillo, 28, Will County Sheriff’s police said. According to reports, the girl suffered the brunt of the impact while the man sustained a minor leg injury and refused medical treatment. The girl was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Kankakee and later airlifted to Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.
As of 10 a.m. Monday she was in a medically-induced coma with a skull fracture and brain tear, reports said.
Castillo, of 516 Hauert St., was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.
Police news in brief:
Fire caused heavy damage to the first floor of a vacant house early Sunday in the 200 block of Mound Road in Joliet.
A couple reported being mugged at gunpoint early Sunday while leaving a party in the 26000 block of Highland Avenue in Monee Township. The victims said they were threatened by between three and five men wearing dark clothing, one of whom was carrying a silver revolver.

Joseph B. Williams: 48, of 1964 Gardner Circle in Aurora, was arrested by sheriff’s police and booked into the county jail Thursday for failing to comply with the state’s sex offender registry requirements.
Alexandria L. Walker: 26, of 1112 Parkwood Drive in Joliet, was arrested by sheriff’s police and booked into the county jail Thursday on a charge of driving on a suspended license.
James Ferguson: 42, of 203 Luana Road in Joliet, was arrested by Rockdale police and booked into the county jail Thursday on a charge of predatory criminal sexual assault.
Shyhiem Z. Atkinson: 17, of 1802 Marlboro Lane in Crest Hill, was arrested by Joliet police and booked into the county jail Thursday on charges of burglary and motor vehicle theft.
Thomas C. Isherwood: 18, of 1804 Mia Drive in Crest Hill, was arrested and booked into the county jail Friday on charges of possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, driving on a suspended license and operating an uninsured vehicle.
