WILMINGTON — The path of the proposed Illiana Expressway once again dominated public comment during the Wilmington City Council meeting this week.
In response to a question about whether or not the proposed route will be north or south of the power lines near New River Road and Illinois Route 53, Mayor Marty Orr said he doesn’t know.
“I wish I knew what they were doing,” Orr said during Tuesday night’s meeting.
The problem, Orr said, is the maps are changing with a variety of different scenarios “probably on a weekly basis.”
Orr did say he felt the proposed interchange at Illinois Route 53 would be detrimental to the nearby Water’s Edge subdivision.
The council previously passed a resolution calling for the state to select the “no build” option.
