Frankfort man dies in fall onto CTA tracks

Updated: August 8, 2012 10:42PM

A Frankfort man died late Tuesday night after falling onto the tracks at the Forest Park Blue Line station, authorities said.

Jeffrey Knoll, 28, of the 100 block of Luther Lane, was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:45 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

It said an autopsy Wednesday found that Knoll was electrocuted from falling onto the third rail, and his death was ruled an accident.

Power was cut off in both directions between the Austin and Forest Park rapid transit stations after Knoll fell from the station platform about 10:45 p.m., Chicago Transit Authority spokeswoman Catherine Hosinski said.

A bus shuttle carried passengers to and from the Forest Park, Harlem and Oak Park stations before normal service was restored about midnight, according to the CTA website.
